hedgerows - Soggy Bottom's pastures have recently (2015) been updated with fencing suitable to manage rotational grazing. This allows us to manage grazing corridors in such a way that hedges can be established along contour lines of the pasture without being munched out of existence by excited critters. When mature, the hedges will have many benefits, such as the following:

Slow water runoff which will keep soil from running off site in Winter and will keep pasture green longer into the Summer; Offer shade and lower surface wind speeds; Browse for animals, and fruits and nuts to harvest for people and animals; Diversify and subdivide the pasture habitat which will slow and/or prevent the spread of some pests; Improve the habitat for beneficial wildlife animals, plants, and fungi.
