pasture - Soggy Bottom has about 30 acres of pasture that used to be farmed for commercial grass seed and hay production. With assistance from Marion Soil & Water Conservation District (MSWCD), we have been working to improve the pasture and its usage patterns.

As of 2015, we have diversified the pasture by overseeding with legumes and forbs. We have also just finished installing cross fencing to rotationally graze the pasture this coming season. We look forward to seeing the soil improve under the new management pattern as this will help the establishment of more nutritious plant species in challenged areas.

In the next season, we plan to establish grazing corridors by planting hedgerows that will coincidentally be protected by the rotational grazing system until mature enough to supply additional browse for the animals.
